Project Description

Let us take you to dreamlike landscapes full of lagoons and mysterious single tracks. Run along the trails like the Incas did and transport yourself to ancient times. Meet their descendants and learn about their culture. Get to know the hidden city of the Incas. Run the mountains because it is in your genetic wiring.


Day 1: Arrive in Lima

One of our teammates will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel in the Miraflores District.

Day 2: Cuscos´s Surroundings

Fly to Cusco (11,152′) (3,399m) in the morning. After lunch we will take a City Tour going to The Cathedral, Main Plaza and Qoricancha. We will see the sunset above the city of Cusco next to the ancient ruins of Saqsayhuaman and surrounding areas.

Day 3: Acclimatization

Today we will go for our first adventure and let our bodies get used to moving at a higher elevation. After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a ride to Pisaq and tour its world-renowned market. We then continue through the Valley and hike up to Maras Salt Mines, which were constructed between AD 200 and AD 900. After Maras, we will go to the Moray site to visit enormous circular terrace depressions. Finally we will visit Chinchero (12,343´) (3,762m) to find a Church built by Viceroy Toledo on top of Inca buildings. From this point we run downhill through an Inca Trail to the town of Urquillos; from there we will take our van and head for dinner in Urubamba (9,432′)(2,875m).

Day 4: Trail Run (Day 1): Huaran - Quishuarani

We will meet our arrieros (mule drivers) at a beautiful Eucalyptus forest from where we will start running up the Huaran ravine towards the Cancha Cancha community. The run is smooth, surrounded by trees and next to a creek that runs down the ravine as we head up. At Puncu Puncu mountain, we will take a right and arrive at tiny Cancha Cancha that will welcome us with breathtaking views of Sahuasiray and Sirihuani snow peaks.

At this point we will start our climb towards the Pachacutec pass (4,685m/ 15.370´). Depending on the weather we may cross snow on the highest points and we will enjoy the beautiful Azulcocha lake. From there we will run down to Collalay Cocha (lake) which is very near to our campsite in the Quishuarani community.

Day 5: Trail Run (Day 2): Quishuarani – Cuncani – Paccha

After a healthy breakfast we will be ready for a hard day with two passes. From our starting point we will climb up Huilcacasa pass (4,400 m) (14,436´) observing snow peaks, and turquoise lagoons. We will then descend to the Cuncani ravine and start our second climb of the day reaching the highest point of our journey, Sicllacasa pass (4,805m) (15,764’). Running downhill through the Cuyoc Queñuales (Polylepsis) forest is one of the highlights of the day. From there we start a smooth run to the campsite at Paccha in Quebrada Pumahuanca. Right next to our campsite we will go to the rarely visited small Chupani archaeological site.

Day 6: Trail Run (Day 3): Paccha – Mantanay – Huacahuasi

Today we will climb to cross from Quebrada Pumahuanca to Quebrada Yanahura. After descending, we will start a steady climb until Mantanay and then will pass by a beautiful lagoon. From this point the trail gets steeper as we get closer to the majestic Aurura glacier lake and finally we’ll reach Hatun Puerta pass (4,631m 15,193’). A short but abrupt downhill will take us down to less than 4000m and then a smooth trail will lead us to Huacahuasi village.

Day 7: Trail Run (Day 4): Huacahuasi - Lares

Today we will take it easy !!! From Huacahuasi we’ll take a dirt road that leads to Lares, constantly taking the single track shortcuts that locals use to get to the next town. For our magnificent finale we will arrive at Lares hot springs where our muscles will have a great reward after several days of hard running.

After resting and eating lunch, a van will take us to the Valley for a restful night in the town of Ollantaytambo.

Day 8: Ollantaytambo – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna -Machu -Picchu – Aguas Calientes

Today we will “discover” one of the new seven wonders of the world. After taking the train we ‘ll stop at Km 104 to start a hike up to Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young), an archaeological site built into a steep hillside overlooking the Urubamba River.

After a hike we will arrive to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) that was once the main entrance to Machu Picchu. We will walk nearby and then head down to Aguas Calientes.

Day 9: Aguas Calientes – Machu -Picchu – Cusco

We will have the entire day to visit Machu Picchu !!! We will climb up Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) and go to the Moon Temple. After spending the whole day in this world wonder we will take the train back to Cusco and have our farewell dinner.

Day 10: Cusco – Lima

After breakfast we will go to the airport and take the plane to Lima. Lunch will be at Club Regatas Lima, overviewing the Pacific Ocean and Lima´s coastline. Transfer to the airport is arranged for that night or the following morning.
